MT4 application hang
Posted by Barry Bahrami on 28 January 2010 09:28 AM
Some EA's that require a DLL can conflict with Data Execution Prevention (DEP). DEP is a windows feature to prevent malicious code from running and infecting the operating system. A conflict will often record in the event log as an Application Hang for terminal.exe. It can also make the VPS appear to hang briefly.

It is possible to disable DEP for a specific application.
  1. Click Start
  2. Right-click on "My Computer"
  3. Select Properties
  4. Click the Advanced tab
  5. Under the Performance section select Settings
  6. In the "Performance Options" window, click on the "Data Execution Prevention" tab
  7. Select "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except for those I select:"
  8. Click Add
  9. The open dialog box will open. Browse and select your application.
  10. Click Open
  11. Click Apply
  12. Click Ok
  13. Reboot
