VPN Setup Guide for Third Party Hosted Servers
Posted by Barry Bahrami on 30 October 2015 08:35 PM

By default, connecting to the VPN hub will route all IP traffic through the VPN connection because it becomes available to your client as a default route. This will render your hosted server unavailable to you because the IP address will change when a connection is made to the VPN, unless special steps are completed during the configuration.

In the VPN profile (in the VPN client manager), check the box ‘No Adjustments of Routing Table”. You then need to manually add the more specific route in the client OS.

For example, if the network you want to route through the VPN is 1.2.3.4/24, then simply add a static route for this prefix to the VPN:  route add 1.2.3.4 mask 255.255.255.255 192.168.3.1 (nyc)

Please contact CNS support for assistance with your specific routes.  We will be happy to help you.
