Thank you for subscribing to our VPN service. This service is designed to enable you to tunnel thru ISP’s with restrictive peering policies and enjoy connectivity to one of the most connected networks on the Internet. You will soon be enjoying all of the IPv4 and V6 Internet. This document is intended to help you get started. It contains login details you will need to access the VPN. Please keep it secured.

We support both SoftEther and OpenVPN. We recommend SoftEther client on windows machines. If you are behind a VPN blocking firewall then OpenVPN and sTunnel will be required. Note: We have had good luck with the SoftEther client on windows getting through restrictive firewalls. However, OpenVPN and sTunnel is always an option.

-SoftEther on Windows-

To install SoftEther, download the client here. Alternate download location here. Install the client only. After the software is installed, right-click in the network adapters and make a new one. Any name will do. Finally, add a new VPN profile. Our VPN servers are:

Los Angeles: vpn.la.commercialnetworkservices.net

New York: vpn.nyc.commercialnetworkservices.net

UK: vpn.uk.commercialnetworkservices.net

Set authentication to RADIUS. Login and password have been eMailed to you and are also available in the control panel.

Set the hub you desire. Under "Advanced Settings", you can increase the number of connections up to 16. The faster your Internet access, the more you can add. Most 'broadband' users will probably set it to around 5.

To setup the Ad Blocker using SoftEther:

Right-click on the virtual network adapter in the SoftEther client manager and select 'Open Windows Network Connections'. This will open a page with the Windows network adapters, including the newly created VPN adapter.

right-click on the VPN Client Adapter and select "Properties"

Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) in the list and select "Properties"

Under the DNS section, change the radio button to "Use the folloiwng DNS server addresses"

Enter the following two DNS servers: 23.253.163.53 and 198.101.242.72

Select "ok"->"ok" and close the Network Connections window.

To enage the VPN, simply double click on the VPN connection in the SoftEther client manager.

-OpenVPN-

Please install the OpenVPN client in your machine.

Next, please download the OpenVPN configuration files from our control panel. Click "My Products & Services" then "View Details" next to your VPN subscription. Scroll down to find an OpenVPN Configurator.

Select the location and hub of your choice and click "Generate". This will prepare two files for download. Save both of them to your OpenVPN\Config folder.

You can now right-click on the OpenVPN icon in your system trey and connect.

You are now connected via VPN to the CNS network. Enjoy! Please contact CNS Support if you require assistance.

We are constantly adding new hubs based on subscriber feedback. Current available hubs are:

AnonymousVPN: This VPN hub will assign you a private IPv4 address. We will then change your public IP address based on the egress point on our network to the remote network you are contacting. For example, if the remote network is peered with us in Los Angeles, then your public IP to that host will be from our Los Angeles datacenter. And if the remote network is peered with us in Europe, then that host will see an IP from our UK datacenter. This will provide a static “enough” public IP address for you to work online, while changing it frequently enough to make tracking difficult. Please keep in mind that this does not prevent other methods of tracking your online activity, so be sure to disable cookies and such. We do not log these connections, however we do employ real time network abuse sensors. This hub is unlikely to comply with most corporate policies because activity is not logged. This hub is likely the best for most VPN users.

AnonymousVPN_SharedIP: This VPN hub will assign you a shared public IP address in the region specified. The shared nature of the IP address makes it even more difficult to track you, yet it’s also static so your location won’t appear to keep changing. This hub is likely the best for geographically sensitive uses, including most media devices such as Kodi.

Anonymous with TOR: For the ultimate in online privacy, connect to our “Anonymous with TOR” hub. Included at no extra charge, this hub will connect you directly to the onion (TOR) network. No extra software required! All traffic is routed through TOR. If the TOR network will not handle the packet then it is dropped. With this hub you can surf the .onion network (dark web) and regular Internet sites through TOR.We do not log these connections, however we do employ real time network abuse sensors. This service is intended to help protect your online privacy in the strongest possible way. This hub is unlikely to comply with most corporate policies because activity is not logged and it connects you directly to the “dark web”. This hub will let you surf .onion sites and the entire web in total privacy. Tor aims to conceal its users’ identities and their online activity from surveillance and traffic analysis by separating identification and routing. It is an implementation of onion routing, which encrypts and then randomly bounces communications through a network of relays run by volunteers around the globe.

Anonymous_Pub_Static_IP_VPN: This VPN hub will assign you a single public IPv4 and IPv6 address for the duration of your VPN session. We do maintain connection logs to be in compliance with most corporate policies. Logs are only available by subpoena or request of the account owner.

San_Diego_Web_Cam: This hub is configured to enable you to watch the San Diego Web Cam in 720p. Only webcam traffic will pass so you can safely keep this one enabled.

By default, connecting to the VPN hub will route all IP traffic through the VPN connection because it becomes available to your client as a default route. This will render your hosted server unavailable to you because the IP address will change when a connection is made to the VPN, unless special steps are completed during the configuration.

In the VPN profile (in the VPN client manager), check the box ‘No Adjustments of Routing Table”. You then need to manually add the more specific route in the client OS.

For example, if the network you want to route through the VPN is 1.2.3.4/24, then simply add a static route for this prefix to the VPN: route add 1.2.3.4 mask 255.255.255.255 192.168.3.1 (nyc)

Please contact CNS support for assistance with your specific routes. We will be happy to help you.

Some subscribers utilize our VPN service to connect to our network in order to subsequently access a remote desktop or another provider peered with our network. For a number of these subscribers, the need to use a VPN exists because of extremely high latency between them and the host they are ultimately trying to connect to. Here are some tips to help speed things up over the VPN:

Connect to the CNS VPN end-point that is closest to your ultimate destination. This will enable the benefits of multiple TCP channels for most of the end to end circuit. Our Looking Glass can help you identify the best VPN end-point, which is the one with the least latency to the ultimate destination.

In the VPN connection properties->Advanced Settings, set number of TCP connections to the highest possible while still realizing some speed improvement. i.e. start at 4 and test the connection. then try 5. If it's faster, try 6 until there is no more speed improvement.

Do not use data encryption. yes, the VPN itself will not be secured however most traffic that should be secured is already secured by SSL so this will not be a concern for most.

It generally makes no difference if you select the Anonymous_VPN or Anonymous_VPN_Pub_Static_IP hub. You can select based on your privacy concerns.

If you only want to use the VPN to connect to specific end-points, select "No Adjustments to Routing Table" in the VPN Connection Properties->Advanced Settings. This will prevent ALL traffic from using the VPN by default. You can then add a specific route on your machine to the end-point using the VPN. It will be a command similar to: route add 1.2.3.4 mask 255.255.255.0 [gwip]. CNS Support will be happy to help you with this.
